Have you ever heard of naming? This is the name given to the process of creating names for brands or products. This week, however, I learned an important application of this concept in the context of personal marketing.

Last Monday I was at Digital College Fortaleza for an immersion of almost 4 hours on Linkedin with the amazing João Henrique Viana, who gave a spectacle of cleverness, pleasing humour and humbleness, handing out valuable insights on how to better use this peculiar social network.

And one of those was the importance of naming when you're building your online presence.

Naming, in the marketing universe, corresponds to the "set of techniques used to develop and create names of products, services, companies and events to distinguish them from other actions or campaigns".

In terms of personal marketing, naming acquires relevance as the name by which you are known ends up becoming your personal brand, together with your personality and projects.

In this way, its importance lies less in creating an impactful name and more in maintaining one that is easily linked to your person and your intellectual production. This is crucial when working as a freelancer or even if you just want to have greater independence from a formal job.

Therefore, it's important that you always introduce yourself with the same first and last name, as well as create similar usernames in your email and on all your social networks, so that your profiles are easily found and associated with you.

João Henrique is a digital marketing professor at Digital College and a UX Designer and Product Manager in training, besides producing a lot of content on diversity and inclusion at Zuãohenrique Social Content.
